Indo-Canadian singer Amritpal Singh Dhillon, professionally known as AP Dhillon, has addressed the controversy surrounding fellow Punjabi artist Shubhneet Singh, also known as Shubh. Shubh’s upcoming India tour was cancelled due to allegations of his support for the Khalistan issue, stemming from his sharing of a distorted map of India on his Instagram profile that omitted Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and the Northeastern states.
Breaking his silence on the matter, AP Dhillon emphasized the importance of spreading love instead of hate. He also shared his reasons for keeping a distance from social media, stating, “I try to stay out of all the social mania as it is clear to me that regardless of what I say or do, it is a lost cause… someone, somewhere is going to spin the narrative to their liking and create more division.”
AP Dhillon expressed the challenges artists face when their public image is used by special interest and political groups to further their agendas. He highlighted the artist’s desire to create art that connects with people on an individual level, irrespective of their backgrounds or beliefs.
