South Goa MP Capt Viriato Fernandes has said he was appalled with the reply of the Minister of New and Renewable Energy when he was asking about renewable energy and sustainable development goals.
Capt Viriato wrote “Appalled, shocked, and saddened
to hear the New and Renewable Energy Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s reply
praising PM Narendra Modi for doubling the coal production”.
Fernandes had the
opportunity to ask a supplementary question on renewable energy vis-a-vis
Sustainable development goals, set by United Nations and to be achieved by
2030. “Goal no. 07 states that countries should reduce their carbon footprint and
increase renewable energy, which means reducing the usage/production of coal” he emphasised.
