MARGAO: The appellant in the Rawanfond commercial building case on Friday met the Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council (MMC) and requested for the revocation of the Occupancy that was issued to the building. He said the Chairperson has the powers to do so under certain sections of the Municipal Act.
The petitioner met the Chairperson and handed the representation demanding revocation of the Part Occupancy (PO) issued to the said Commercial building. “The Director of Municipal Administration in his order has stated that it is a fit case of being inquired into which is enough for the MMC to revoke the PO to the Construction,” said Shirish Kamat.
The appellant while informing the Chairperson said that under section 59 of the Municipal Act, ‘the Chairperson is empowered to revoke and doesn’t need the Chief Officer (CO), who is the head of administration to do so’.
He added that the land was an open space, which is in the approved ODP’s and that there have been lots of discrepancies in the building project which involves various departments and involvement of the former MMC CO.
