The Corporation of the City of Panjim, which is the highest tax collector among municipalities, is finding the going tough in the wake of the implementation of the VIth Pay Commission recommendations and as such has decided to knock the doors of the Government to bail them out of the financial burden.
This subject and a few others, including that of hotel garbage, would be discussed at a meeting scheduled tomorrow to place the interim budget.
Sources disclosed that the budget, which would be mainly stress on receipts and salaries, is a deficit one running in the red to the tune of Rs 6 crore.
They mentioned that the implementation of the VIth Pay recommendations since the last four months would result in additional liability of Rs 3.5 crore, plus there are arrears to be paid to the tune of Rs 2.80 crore.
The meeting is scheduled for 4 pm tomorrow (Wednesday)
