Being a father isn’t an easy task, and that is something we all need to understand. Fathers aren’t always appreciated in the same way as mothers, so it’s important to highlight and remind ourselves about all that it takes to be a father and a father figure.
In traditional terms, a father is someone who is responsible for taking care of the family, someone who the kids should fear. This can interfere not only with the way they express their emotions but also with our ability to expect any kind of affection from our fathers. Thankfully, as the years pass by, and with cultures ever-evolving, we have begun to accept that even our fathers deserve a little love and pampering every now and then. We also need to recognize the remarkable strength it takes at being a father, and sometimes a ‘father-figure’.
So, on this Father’s Day, let us not only appreciate our fathers but our husbands, uncles, brothers and the men in our lives that do so much for us without expecting anything but love in return.
