SANGUEM: Given the worsening condition of approach road to Dando Bridge at Bendwada, the contractor allocated with the work of construction of parallel bridge at Dando-Sanguem on Friday filled the sunken portion of the main road with concrete and also drained the water-logged on the main road with the help of a pumping motor.
The side walls of the approach road to the bridge at Bendwada are exposed to the rains after the contractor had levelled the area to pave way for the construction of the parallel bridge.

However, due to the heavy rains, the loose mud of the approach road towards Sanguem side have started getting washed away making the use of the approach road a risky affair.
Incidentally, though the contractor has covered the exposed portion of the approach road with tarpaulin, it did not helped much as the constant use of the road by heavy vehicles have led to depression on the main road leading to a portion of the approach get sunk.
A lot of water was seen accumulated on the main road at the sunked portion since today morning. However as a precautionary measure, the contractor drained the accumulated water with the help of a water pump and put concrete to cover the sunken portion of the main road.
Immediately, after getting the news of the damage to the approach road, Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar along with Deputy Collector Ajay Gaude, Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar and AE PWD Dayanand Nadkarni visited the bridge and advised the contractor to take further precautionary measures as there are possibilities of more damage being done to the approach road.
Gaonkar informed that though a major portion of the construction work of the new parallel bridge would have completed by now, the pandemic COVID-19 led to considerable delay in the ongoing construction work of the bridge.
