PONDA: Work on the one-km approach road from Ponda KTC bus stand to GVM circle (towards Panjim side) would be taken up after the rainy season.
PWD Road Division XVIII Executive Engineer Arvind Fadte on Friday clarified that estimate of Rs 80 lakh for this approach road work has been done and has been sent for administrative approval.
He rejected the claims of locals that recently tarred approach road (from Panjim side) to the bus stand was tarred in June and the rains exposed the substandard work within one month.
He said, “In June only the KTC bus stand terminal area was hot-mixed. It was an old tender estimated for which was made in 2019 and executed in June 2023. However, work estimate on Panjim side approach road was not included in it since it was in a good condition at that time.”
“There are two approach roads for the Ponda bus stand – one from Ponda side and the other from Panjim side. The approach road from Ponda side was tarred,” he added.
He said a separate tender is estimated and sent for approval for hot-mix carpeting of approach road from the bus stand to the GVM circle.
