SIOLIM: Villagers and commuters voiced out against the pathetic condition of the approach road to the Sodiem-Marna link road near the Holy Cross School at Gaunsavaddo-Siolim.
Irked locals, students and daily commuters, who use the bypass road near the school, to go to Mapusa via Marna and vice versa have expressed frustration over the pathetic condition of the road which is riddled with potholes.
Locals said that this particular stretch has turned into an accident-prone zone and stated that the patchwork done along this route was washed off within no time.
This is one of the busiest roads which witnesses the movement of vehicles throughout the day and night as there is a school here. Besides people from the neighbouring villages of Pernem Taluka use it as a shortcut to reach their destination.
“Tarring is secondary, but the authorities concerned should atleast cover up the potholes to avoid accidents which are a regular feature here. Some patchwork was done at the time of elections. However, it was washed off within three months due to its substandard work,” said Vishal Naik, a local.
