MARGAO: The issue of garbage collection and disposal dominated the gram sabha of Aquem-Baixo Village Panchayat which was chaired by Sarpanch Avinash Sardesai.
In this regard, a resolution was passed stating that from the next financial year, the panchayat would start the wet waste collection from the village households.
It was also resolved to float a tender inviting prospective contractors to submit their bids for the wet waste collection and to start the tendering process immediately. It was further pointed out that the panchayat had already set up the Material Recovery Facility shed and is treating the dry waste.
Another resolution was taken to follow the advice received from the Salcete Block Development Office and issue NOCs to those tenants who are staying in rented premises.
The gram sabha, like in its previous meeting, also discussed the issue of issuing income certificates to the tenants.
