MARGAO: The issue of pending works for the clearing of drains was a hot topic at the Aquem Baixo gram sabha.
The villagers demanded to know why the pancahayat had failed to carry out the works of cleaning and clearing drains.
Sarpanch Sharon Quadros put the blame back on complaints being filed with the vigilance committee by the villagers. However, the villagers said that the complaints were only being filed as the works were not being done properly. The sarpanch refuted allegations and said that that the panchayat had followed due procedure and that there had been no takers for the tenders for drain related work.
The gram sabha also resolved to take action regarding a mobile tower they had issues with.
It was also discussed to write to the authorities regarding the discharge of sewage waste in the village. The panchayat also formed village committees as per the instructions of the Directorate of Panchayat and the same have been submitted to the government.
