Arambol residents lash out at DoP over frequent transfer of p’yat secretaries

Arambol: Arambol residents have lashed out at the Directorate of Panchayats (DoP) over the frequent transfer of secretaries in the village.

“We have seen eight panchayat secretaries shunted during the last eight months. Despite being one of the wealthiest panchayats in the State, the frequent transfers of the secretaries has hampered  development,” here said locals.

“The frequent transfers of secretaries has upset us. My panchas our doing their best to move around with files. I just hope we do not have to stage a protest demanding for a permanent panchayat secretary,” said a visibly upset sarpanch Bernard Fernandes.

Locals claimed that due to frequent transfers of the secretaries, their work related to obtaining NOC certificates, income certificates, house tax etc is pending.

“Senior government officials are doing this on purpose just to trouble locals and senior citizens. The whole thing should be probed into,” alleged Yeshudas Harmalkar, a villager.

“RTI activists are active in the village and maybe that is the reason behind secretaries not wanting to work in Arambol panchayat for long,”  another local Yadunath Parab.

The issue of panchayat secretaries being transferred constantly will likely to generate much heat at the gram sabha which is scheduled on 27 of this month.
