PERNEM: Complying with court directives, the Arambol panchayat on Monday demolished huts and shacks in the Coastal Regulation Zone.
The panchayat was issued a notice to demolish huts and shacks in Survey Nos 63, 64, 61 and 163. Some local businessmen had demolished their constructions following the notice while others cited reasons of continuous rain for not demolishing their huts. In two days, action will taken against huts/shacks constructed along Arambol and Mandrem coast, officials said.
Harish Adkonkar, Rajesh Azgaonkar, Frazer Fernandes, Anant Gaonkar and Santosh Gadekar were present.
