VASCO: The Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao, during the Solemn Feast Mass of St Joseph Vaz, urged the parishioners and devotees to follow the life and teachings of State’s Patron Saint who throughout his life served people and spread the word of Jesus all over, especially in Sri Lanka.
The Mass was held at the old church of Our Lady of Health in Sancoale, on Saturday.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the past eight months some unusual situation has occurred and many people are facing tough time due to the Coronavirus,” said Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Most Rev Felipe Neri Ferrao.
The Archbishop advised the devotees to follow the life and teachings of St Joseph Vaz and try to be good human beings and ambassadors of peace.
Archbishop also revealed some of the important aspects of the life of St Joseph Vaz who lived a simple life like a true servant of Jesus Christ and served people who were in need. St Vaz spread the word of Jesus all over during his life and endorsed peace, humanity and kindness.
The Archbishop later told media that many devotees, parishioners participated in the feast celebration at Sancoale, and also took part in the virtual Mass online due to the COVID-19 situation.
Later, Fr Manuel Dias, Rector of Sancoale Sanctuary, said that for the past nine days parishioners held the novenas and did all the necessary preparations for the feast.
“The feast celebration went well. We pray to St Joseph Vaz, for the betterment, blessings and good health to all people during this COVID-19 pandemic,” said Fr Dias.
