PANJIM: Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Ferrao and Goa Governor Dr Mridula Sinha have extended their heartiest warm greetings to the people of Goa on the occasion of Easter.
In his message Archbishop Filipe Neri said, “On this Easter day I would like to extend my cordial wishes to all those who believe in what Christians worldwide celebrate today: the triumph of Jesus over death and evil and His promise of eternal life to all who believe in Him.”
“Those who observe Easter believe that Christ did not end up in the tomb, but that He rose from the dead, making us sharers in His new life. Easter encourages us to infuse our society with newness of life and purpose.”
He further said, “As we stand on the threshold of Parliamentary Elections as well as by-elections in some of our State constituencies, let us pray that our electorate will vote for the forces which empower the weak, the marginalised and the exploited, rather than those that corrupt, communalise, exploit and divide.”
In her message, the Governor said, “Easter commemorates the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. In fact, the resurrection of Christ is the eternal hope and foundation of Christian life and faith.
Easter is the symbol of victory over all the evil forces. The message of Easter is the message of Life and Hope for all mankind.”
The Governor further stated, “By his self-sacrifice, Jesus Christ gave us the eternal and valuable message of love, brotherhood, forgiveness, compassion and sacrifice. Today, when the world is afflicted with many man-made evils, the divine message of Jesus Christ can help to transform the mankind and guide them to lead a more peaceful, happy and meaningful life”.
“I join the people of Goa in rejoicing the glorious resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ on this auspicious occasion,” the Governor concluded.
