Archbishop highlights tiatrists’ role in promoting good values in society

Diocesan Day of Mass Media Apostolate celebrated in city

PANJIM: Archbishop of Goa and Daman Most Rev Felipe Neri Ferrao presided over the Eucharistic Celebration during the Diocesan Communication day or Diocesan day of Mass Media Apostolate celebrated on Sunday, with Goa’s Tiatrists, at Lar de Estudantes, Altinho.

The archbishop appreciated the work the tiatrists play by not only protecting the culture but by educating people on lot of issues. He highlighted their role in this field of giving good entertainment and promoting good values in the Society. The Archbishop also pointed out to the troubles they have gone through during the Pandemic, due to lack of shows and hoped for better days for them. 

The celebration was organised by Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media, Goa.

Tiatrists such as Prince Jacob, Francis de Tuem, Mario Menezes and Norman Cardozo and (Musician), Jaju, Ben Evangelist, Mathew and some well known tiatrists participated in the programme. Young priests who are involved in tiatr such as Fr Milagris Dias, Fr Michael Fernandes, and Fr Doel Dias also took part. 

Earlier during the day Fr Jeorge Fernandes highlighted the role of tiatrists as promoters of good values in the Society.

Fr Rony Fernandes conducted a group session during which there were many suggestions regarding helping upcoming tiatrists. The lay communications animators along with priest animators, who were present from different deaneries of Goa also contributed to the discussions by giving suggestions as to how to make tiatr more appealing to future generations.

Finally Fr Barry Cardozo, Director of Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media thanked everyone and called upon the tiatr fraternity to join hands with the church to spread good values and build a better society. He also remembered those who couldn’t come and expressed his resentment that the number had to be restricted due to the present pandemic. 

Finally stressing on the vision of the communication centre of building communion of communities he said that Diocesan Communication Centre will always strive to build such cordial relationships with people and communities of goodwill within the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman.
