PANJIM: The Synodal journey of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman will begin with the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão on October 17 at Se Cathedral, Old Goa.
The celebration, which will be held at 9.30 am with the participation of chosen representatives from the Archdiocese, follows the recent Solemn Opening of the Synod of Bishops 2021-2023, which took place in the Vatican between October 9 and October 10.
“The whole ceremony will be telecast live through our Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media (DCSCM) and CCR TV. The copy of the Liturgy for the day will be provided for its use in our parishes through our Archdiocesan website and through the Diocesan Centre for Liturgy,” said Fr Simião Fernandes, Convenor of the Archdiocese’s Coordinating Committee Synod 2023.
The theme of the Synod is “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.”
Stressing on this theme and process, Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao, earlier, in his circular had said, “The Holy Father desires deeply that this two-year long ecclesial endeavour should help us all to grow together into what we are called to be. He also wants that this exercise should be a shared journey of listening, of reflection, of discernment, first at the local (diocesan) level, then at the continental and lastly at the universal level”.
Fr Simião stressed that Catholics as members of the Church, have a major role to play in the first phase of the Synodal journey in the following way.
