PANJIM: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa rejected the bail pleas of the two Archives Department staffers who have been arrested in the Calangute land grabbing case.
The Special Investigating Team (SIT) of land grabbing on January 4 had arrested two officials of the Archives Department and one more accused person for hatching criminal conspiracy in grabbing land in Calangute.
The two accused had filed for bail immediately after their police custody ended recently.
Meanwhile, Anil Anand Naik, who was also arrested in the offence, had fallen ill.
After his treatment was over he was sent to custody. Anil has also applied for bail and his bail application will be heard on January 13.
Accused persons Diresh Gangaram Naik and Mahesh Maddo Naik who are Archives Department staff were arrested along with Anil for grabbing land belonging to complainants Hilario Fernandes and Juliet Fernandes in Calangute.
Diresh and Mahesh were arrested along with six other accused persons including the Bardez Mamlatdar.
