Are land based and off-shore casinos’ licences renewed despite defaulting?

CM assures recovery of casino dues within one year; opposition says not possible

PORVORIM:  Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai questioned how licences of on-shore and off shore casinos were being renewed when they were defaulting on government dues.
Sardesai cited that an amount of Rs 556 crores was due to the govt from casinos.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant disagreed that the total was only Rs 300 odd crores and the recovery was in process. He assured to do the recovery within one year, otherwise their properties would be confiscated within 1 year.
Sardesai along with Siolim MLA Delilah lobo said that small slot machines were being operated in all villages of Goa and youngsters were getting addicted.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured to ban illegal operations and said recovery of casino dues would be done within a year.
