Arguments heard on advance bail plea of Khaunte’s agent

MAPUSA: The Additional District and Sessions Court at Mapusa Wednesday heard the arguments on the application for anticipatory bail filed by Suraj Borkar, the election agent of Independent candidate Rohan Khaunte.

MAPUSA: The Additional District and Sessions Court at Mapusa Wednesday heard the arguments on the application for anticipatory bail filed by Suraj Borkar, the election agent of Independent candidate Rohan Khaunte.
The case involves a complaint by Head Constable Dattaram Gawandi that Borkar allegedly threatened and attempted to assault him (the cop) when was on duty on the Election Day, at Peddem in Mapusa.
The public prosecutor pointed out that Borkar was not present for the several enquiries held by the police. However, Borkar’s lawyer submitted that the accused would cooperate with the police. He argued that the custody of Borkar was not required as there no recovery to be made. Order will be pronounced on Friday. Adv Michael Nazareth represented Borkar, while Public Prosecutor Anuradha appeared for the State.
