Arguments in rape case posted on September 21

MARGAO: The main accused Rahim Khan who raped a 17-year-old girl from one of the villages of Salcete has moved bail application for his release before additional district and session judge Margao.

The court has issued notices to Margao police, public prosecutor and defence advocate and has posted the matter for arguments on September 21.

Margao police have booked Rahim and also the victim’s mother Fatima Khan aged 40 for abetment to commit suicide. Both are in judicial custody.

It may be recalled that two accused were brought to Margao on securing a transit warrant from Uttar Pradesh by a police team.

Police said that Rahim (22) raped the girl who later attempted to commit suicide when Rahim refused to marry her. The girl was working in a medical store.

Police said that the mother of the girl has also been booked for abetment to commit suicide.

Margao Police have registered the offence under Section 376 IPC for rape, Sec 323 for causing hurt, Sec 305 for abetment to commit suicide and Sec 109.

The accused is also booked under Section 8 of Goa Children act and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
