SANGUEM: Arogya Express has been doing a commendable job in the remote villages of Sanguem and Quepem talukas since last five years.
Arogya Express which has benefitted over 1000 people has two fully equipped medical vans and a dental van which visits different parts of the talukas as per the schedule which is informed to the villagers well in advance.
During the visits to the villages, the team which is led by a doctor, nurse and the project co-ordinator conduct general health camps and in a month about 22-24 such camps are held in different parts of remote villages of the taluka.
Project Director Varad Naik said in addition to the general health camps, the team also conducts regular camps in ophthalmic, oral cancer detection, blood checks, mass density check and camps for women on various aspects relating to their health.
Over the years, the people in the remote villages in Sanguem particularly those residing in the hinterland areas which lack regular transport facility have begun to solely depend on the Arogya Express for their medical needs and that too at their door steps for free of cost.
During May, despite the State-wide curfew imposed by the Government, the Arogya Express team visited the villages on their schedule day to distribute medicines to the villagers who were under their treatment.
Over the last few months, the team members were also seen moving in the remote areas of Sanguem taluka briefing the locals on COVID-related symptoms and explaining to them the need to get vaccinated.
