VASCO: The Verna police have arrested two brothers from Arossim for allegedly assaulting a Verna resident and her husband on Sunday evening.
According to Verna police, a 42-year-old woman – Cristina Fernandes, a Verna resident in her complaint stated that at about 4.30 pm, the accused persons — Jeffery Fernandes and his brother Xenon Fernandes, residents of Arossim assaulted the her and her husband – Peter Fernandes with kicks and punches and later with a knife, thereby causing injuries to them.
Both the accused abused the complainant and her husband with filthy language and threatened them with dire consequences.
Acting on the complaint, the Verna police arrested the duo under Sections 323, 326, 504 and 506-II read with section 34 of IPC and further investigation is in progress.
