PANJIM: Crime Branch has cracked the murder of woman reported at a guest house in Arpora last week and arrested the husband of the victim from Ludhiana in Punjab.
SP Crime Branch Pankaj Kumar Singh informed that on April 27, at around 6.30 in the evening, the care-taker of the guest house reported that a body of a lady was found lying in a pool of blood.
“It was suspected that her husband Sukhwinder Singh aged 32 years, resident of Chandigarh had murdered her 28-year-old wife, resident of Himachal Pradesh,” he added.
Informing about the investigation and the arrest of the accused, he said that multiple teams were formed under the supervision of SP North Chandan Chaudhary and SP Crime Branch and monitored by the top officials of the Police Department.
During course of investigation it was revealed that the accused person had left from his room in the wee hours and thereafter left for Delhi. Immediately a police team from Anjuna was deputed to trace the accused person. They visited at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and checked the CCTV footage and found that accused person had travelled in a taxi to Chandigarh from the airport.
Raids were also conducted at the native house of accused Sukhwinder, at Chandigarh and Kapurthala.
Based on the technical analysis and efforts of the teams, his location was found to be near Ludhiana bus stand. Further, with the support of local police he was traced to a hotel. He was apprehended and thereafter brought to Anjuna Police Station.
Singh said, “After preliminary interrogation he confessed to having committed the crime. Thereafter, he was placed under arrest. During interrogation it was revealed that, on the fateful day, the duo had a heated argument resulting in a fight after which he slit her throat with a knife.”
