MARGAO: Bailancho Ekvott has demanded that the police arrest the builder, the developer and the labour contractor of the building in Canacona where a six-year-old minor was repeatedly raped.
Claiming that the builder, the developer and the labour contractor are guilty of ignoring the safety of a minor girl, activist Auda Viegas has warned of agitation if the demand of putting all responsible behind bars is not met within a month.
Viegas has submitted a letter to the police demanding action against the developer and contractor.
“The unsafe dwelling provided to the father of the child with no day care centre to ensure the safety of non-schooling children is also responsible for their vulnerability. The labour contractors have a duty to protect minor children from exploitation and abuse and to make living safe for children,” Viegas said.
“The onus of reporting child abuse lies with the employer who engaged these alleged child rapists who probably used the premises provided to them by their employer for their perverted acts. Was information provided to the police about these security guards? Were their antecedents checked by the employer?” Viegas questioned.
“If the rapist and the abettor of the rape incident go scot-free, the same will encourage other rapists to rape our children and destroy their lives,” she said.
“We expect that the charge-sheet against the rapist will be such that the three rapists will get the highest sentence as per law,” Viegas demanded.
