PANJIM, FEB 1
Benaulim legislator Mickky Pacheco today said that the Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar be arrested immediately if charges made against him are true or arrest the Home Minister for hatching criminal conspiracy against the former chief minister.
The home minister recently made statements that one Roy Fernandes was carrying out drugs business with support from the then chief minister Manohar Parrikar.
He also said that drug trade flourished when Parrikar was chief minister.
“The home minister said he has evidence to back his claim,” Pacheco said adding “…If this is so then the chief minister should immediately issue orders for Parrikar’s arrest and if there is no evidence then the home minister should be sacked and arrested for abetment of crime and hatching criminal conspiracy against Parrikar.”
Pacheco also stated that the drugs trade had tarnished Goa’s image worldwide.
“The sting operations in Atala and Dudu cases seem to be like a movie but I feel it is high time we need to intervene and carry out thorough investigation,” he said.
On the constant figuring of one name “Roy” in drugs case, Pacheco said, “Police have investigated almost all Roy’s in the state except for the home minister’s son.”
“I feel it is time to investigate the real Roy,” he said.
Pacheco also criticized the police role in the Cipriano custodial death case.
He demanded that the government make use of Article 311 and dismiss the tainted police officials.
Pacheco said that the law and order situation in the last four years is at the lowest.
“It is time that we addressed this issue,” he said.
