NEW DELHI/ponda: Goa’s Congress MP Shantaram Naik on Thursday sought the arrest of Sadhvi Saraswati, chief of Madhya Pradesh Sanathan Dharma Prachar Seva Samiti, for her objectionable remarks on beef eating in his State on Wednesday.
The Sadhvi had said on Wednesday at the All India Hindu Convention, organised by the Hindu Janajagriti Samiti in goa that she will “request” the Centre to hang people publicly who slaughter cow and consumed beef as a “status symbol”. People will then understand that cow protection is our responsibility. She also urged Hindus to stockpile arms at home to “save our women from love jihad”.
Naik, a Rajya Sabha MP, raised the issue in a meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Home Ministry here and urged Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who was presiding over the meeting, to send an advisory to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for her arrest.
Naik said Parrikar, who also holds the home portfolio, should put her under arrest for such a statement in the State where people have been eating beef for ages. He said the BJP, including its national leadership, will be presumed to be in agreement with the sadhvi if she is not arrested.
He also took strong exception to the sadhvi’s call for making India a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ (Hindu nation) by 2023 with the assertion that “the country will be only for Hindus and people from other religions should leave India voluntarily.”
Sadhvi Saraswati also urged Hindus to stockpile arms at home to “save our women from love jihad”.
She made these remarks at the inauguration of a four-day All India Hindu Convention, organised by the Hindu Janajagriti Samiti.
