NAVELIM: Several individuals who arrived at the Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim on Sunday morning to answer the written examination for the post of Lower Divisional Clerk (LDCs) in the Directorate of Art and Culture had to return disappointed as the exams had been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.
Interestingly, though they had received an intimation regarding this one-and-a-half hour long written examination in the form of a letter mailed to them stating the reporting time to be 9 am for this examination to be conducted from 10 am to 11.30 am by following all the COVID SOPs, there was no notice pasted nor any official from the directorate present at the entrance of this examination centre informing them of the examination being cancelled, postponed or rescheduled.
In this era of modern technology wherein almost everyone uses a mobile phone, a mere SMS could have been sent, if not, the applicants been telephonically informed of the examination being cancelled especially since all of them had submitted their mobile phone numbers in their application forms for the vacant post.
Further, no public notice was issued in the media regarding this examination being held throughout various centres in Goa being cancelled, informed an applicant to Herald.
