PANJIM: Noting that the festive season that’s around the corner witnesses peak tourist arrivals, Drishti Marine’s lifesaving force has issued a warning to all those visiting the beaches and have also stated that they have ramped up their plans ahead of the busy weeks.

“We anticipate the next few days to be extremely busy across the coast, especially on the beach stretches which witness high footfalls. Accordingly, anticipating the need, we have initiated deployment of additional lifesavers across beaches, especially at the popular beaches on the Sinquerim-Baga stretch, Vagator, Morjim, Colva-Benaulim stretch, and Palolem,” said Navin Awasthi, Operations Head, Drishti Marine.

There has also been an increase in allotment of resources such as Drishti’s jeep patrolling fleet along the beach stretch, stationing of jet skis on all key beaches, strengthening the communication network, manning lifeguards with rescue gears, first-aid kits etc.

They also pointed out that while Drishti lifesavers operate from 7 am to 6 pm, post sunset from 6 pm to 12 midnight, the beaches are patrolled by the “Beach Safety Patrol”.

Drishti also issued safety tips under the title “Listen to Your Lifeguard” to the public.
