PANJIM: Concerned about the growing post-Coronavirus complications amongst recovered patients, the State government has decided to set up post-COVID care clinics to provide treatment and counseling to those who have recovered from the virus.
Addressing media persons on Friday, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the post-COVID care clinics would be set up at public health centers (PHC) shortly. “Though the patients, who have recovered from coronavirus disease, are returning to normal life, after being cured, there are cases, where several are developing post COVID complications related to lungs, breath, fatigue, headache, body ache and other disorders. This needs to be cured for their healthy living,” Sawant said.
“It is very important that such patients are provided with required treatment, medication and counselling,” the chief minister said, adding, “The post COVID-care clinics will play an important role in management of recovered patients and to ensure healthy Goa.”
Speaking from his experience, Sawant said that a regular proper diet, plenty of liquid diet, exercise, pranayama and suraynamaskar will help boost immunity and fight COVID infection. “The method can be even adopted for post COVID care,” he said.
The Chief Minister had tested positive for coronavirus on September 2 and is currently under home isolation.
Stating that Goa has reported 276 COVID related deaths so far, Sawant said co-morbid conditions, delay in hospital treatment and initial negligence of the symptoms, can be attributed to rising deaths. “Government is making all efforts to bring deaths under control. But at the same time, people also need to be alert and check themselves on every symptom they get,” he said.
Mentioning that most COVID positive patients are opting for home isolation, Sawant said that 682 beds are vacant at various COVID care centers that include 520 in South Goa and 162 in North.
