As students boycott classes, mobile tower shifted from GPS

PONDA : After the Government Primary School (GPS) students boycotted classes at Kasayale Usgao in protest against the installation of a mobile tower in the premises, the company stopped work here and shifted the tower to another location.

“Parents also welcomed the move to shift the tower to a new location and heaved a sigh of relief while students joined classes since Monday,” said PTA Chairman Rajendra Gaude.

It may be recalled that on March 8, parents and students protested against the mobile tower in the school as they claimed that radiation emitted from it would have detrimental effect on the health of children.

As there was stiff opposition and with students staying away from classes, the company shifted base to another place on March 13.

Gaude said that around 70 children are enrolled at the government primary school which

also comprises of an Anganwadi and all of them had refused to attend classes until the tower was shifted from the area.
