PANJIM: ASG Eye Hospital Goa, a leading provider of advanced eye care, opened its state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Corneal Transplantation and Q-Lasik treatments.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane inaugurated the centre in the presence of renowned eye specialists Dr Sean Da Silva, Dr Chandraprakash Oli, Dr Aditya Kajave and Tomazinho Cardozo.
Rane expressed his admiration for ASG Eye Hospital’s commendable efforts in advancing eye care and its commitment to offering services that were previously unavailable.
He emphasised on the government’s dedication to providing citizens with the best healthcare services possible and lauded the collaboration with ASG Eye Hospital to achieve this goal.
Rane proposed innovative ideas to enhance eye care accessibility for the elderly in rural areas.
“By implementing a unique screening process tailored to address distance and accessibility barriers, the government aims to ensure that quality eye care is directly delivered to those in need,” he added.
Furthermore, the Health Minister expressed his support for Dr Sean’s proposal to procure equipment not currently available at Goa Medical College and Hospital. This initiative seeks to ensure continuity of care for patients who would otherwise have to seek treatment outside the State.
He reaffirmed his commitment to equip Goa with the best hospitals and facilities, eliminating the need for citizens to travel elsewhere for medical treatment.
Dr Sean shared his vision for the Centre of Excellence for Corneal Transplantation and Q-Lasik treatments.
He emphasised on the transformative power of corneal transplantation, which offers the precious gift of sight to those who have lost it, providing new hope for individuals facing corneal blindness.
The Corneal Transplantation procedure involves the removal of damaged corneal tissue, which is then replaced with healthy donor tissue. This procedure presents a life-changing opportunity for corneal blind patients to regain their vision and improve their quality of life significantly.
Additionally, the Q-Lasik procedure, a remarkable laser eye surgery, allows individuals to achieve freedom from glasses and correct vision problems, enhancing their daily lives and activities.
