MAPUSA: In a bid to curb crime in their village, the locals of Assagao on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Anjuna Police demanding thorough checks at construction sites and on migrants residing in the village. They also asked for constant patrolling.
In the memorandum, the locals said that the recent incident where five labourers allegedly killed an AC technician at a construction site has caused fear amongst residents.
They also expressed anxiety over the rise in crimes like snatching of chains/jewellery, theft of bikes, selling of drugs and migrants consuming alcohol in isolated areas.
