MARGAO: The adhoc district judge 1 and additional session judge, Margao on Wednesday acquitted one Diganta Kalita of Assam arrested by Colva police in a sex racket.
The alleged accused was caught in the parking lot at Margao around 10.30 pm by the Colva police team. He was later interrogated and arrested under Section 370 (a) (ii) IPC and Sections 4, 5, 6, 7 of the Immoral Trafficking Act, 1956.
Following a late night raid the Colva police had rescued a 29-year-old Gujarati girl and had arrested a 25-year-old man from Assam for allegedly pushing her into prostitution.
Diganta who was residing at Pequeno Ward in Colva had arrived with the girl at the Colva parking lot near the beach to hand over the girl to the customer who was a decoy.
Police swooped on him .The victim girl was sent to Apna Ghar after conducting all legal formalities Diganta was arrested and a charge sheet was sent against him in the court.
