PANJIM: The Goa Legislative Assembly has so far received a total of 2,387 questions for the upcoming monsoon session, which begins from July 18.
The State Assembly has received 589 starred questions and another 1,798 unstarred, with four more days to go for the legislators to submit more questions. The Assembly has also received eight government bills and more are expected to come.

The month-long session, with 18 days sitting, will conclude on August 10. On July 24, the members of the House will vote to elect the new Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament. BJP has nominated its State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade.
The opposition, with just seven MLAs, has decided not to field any candidate and rather focus on putting in a joint fight in the House to raise issues concerning the State.
Meanwhile, the North Goa District Magistrate has imposed Section 144 in view of the Session from July 18 to August 10, prohibiting assembly and gathering of five or more persons and taking out or organising of procession, carrying of firearms or weapons, swords, use of loudspeakers, burning of fire in any public place, street, road, square thoroughfare, by-lane or in any open space within the radius of 500 metres around the Assembly Complex at Porvorim.
