PANJIM: The “Special Scheme of Assessment” — a significant overhaul of Board examination, introduced last year in view of COVID-19 pandemic, will continue to be adopted for the upcoming academic term 2022-23, where Class X and XII Board exams will be held in two parts.

With uncertainty over conduct of Board examination in wake of third wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) had last year approved “Special Scheme of Assessment” for Board examination of Class X and XII as per which there were two terms — one ending in November-December and another in March-April, with three periodic tests of which the third one is of creative one beside practical work and other activities.

Speaking to Herald, Goa Board Chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that the scheme will be adopted even during the upcoming academic term 2022-23.

“A circular in this regard will be issued shortly,” he said.

As per the scheme, the schools have to undertake internal assessments of students of Class X and XII throughout the academic year and have to retain the evidence in digital format.

The scheme, which was implemented for the academic term 2021-22, the Class X and XII general steam (non practical subject), and students answered 40 marks exam for the first term in multiple choice question and second term was based on subjective questions.  Two internal tests of 20 marks each were conducted in the first term and one test — innovative test — during the second term will be conducted.

For those with practical subjects, the first term was of 40 marks while the second term was of 30 marks and a 20 marks year end practical. Two internal tests of 20 marks each were conducted in the first term and one test — innovative test — during the second term.

A similar format was followed for Class XII vocational stream.

According to the scheme, the first internal test has to be conducted by the second week of August and the second internal test by the second week of October. The third internal test, which will be an innovative test — which may be in any one of the six subjects —has to be completed by February, next year.
