MAPUSA: Mapusa Nagrikancho Ekvott in a letter to Member Secretary of North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) has sought for more time to provide suggestions and objections on Mapusa Outline Development Plan (ODP).
In the letter, association’s convenor Adv Antonio Lobo said the ODP is kept for inspection in the Mapusa municipality. However, due to the pandemic citizens of Mapusa who are interested in giving their suggestions or objections on the Outline Development Plan (ODP) cannot move out since most are senior citizens.
“Choosing the pandemic situation to present such plan where suggestions of public are required appears to have been done purposely with the hope that people will not move out,” he said and added that the department can put up the plan for final approval before the government on the grounds that no one objected or provided any suggestions on the Outline Development Plan .
The association also highlighted that period of one month to provide suggestions or objections on the Outline Development Plan is too short under the prevailing circumstances and called for putting up such plans for public inspection only after the pandemic ends.
It threatened that if the concerned authority proceeds further without giving the public more time to give their opinions then it would force the public to protest wherever and whenever required.
