ASSOLNA: Assolna Village Panchayat gram sabha on Sunday approved Rs 30.44 lakh surplus Budget 2021-22.
Sarpanch Xavier Almeida informed that the Salcete Block Development Officer (BDO) had directed us to convene the ordinary gram sabha on Sunday, February 28, but as the Budget 2021-22 was not ready, it was convened on Sunday, March 7, with no other points on the agenda except for the Budget 2021-22 that was presented and approved by all present. Also no proposals can be discussed due to the Code of Conduct imposed as by-elections are being held for the vacant Ward No 7 in Assolna on March 20.
A cursory glance at the Budget 2021-22 reveals that the total receipts are projected as Rs 1,81,42,500 with total expenditure as Rs 1,44,03,000 resulting in a surplus of Rs 30,44,500.
Interestingly, for the forthcoming financial year 2021-22, the Assolna Village Panchayat has allotted funds to the tune of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 50,000, respectively compared to the funds allotted in the previous financial year 2020-21 of Rs 4 lakh and Rs 25,000, respectively towards disposal of garbage and disposing of dead animals.
Similarly, the amount allotted for a special garbage drive has been hiked from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 whereas the amount allotted for the garbage management programme has been decreased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 20,000 for this current financial year.
Likewise, the amount allotted for the maintenance of the Panchayat Ghar has been doubled from Rs 2,50,00 to Rs 5,00,000 whereas the amounts allotted for the maintenance of the Lohia Chowk and Children’s Park has been hiked from Rs 50,000 each to Rs 5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh, respectively.
