The complaints involved activities by anti-social elements, thick undergrowth on either side of the road and indiscriminate dumping of garbage. Locals said they were uncomfortable using the road after dark and repeatedly demanded that the place be cleaned.
After cleaning the area, panch member of the area, Framila Almeida and the Velim MLA appealed to the public to stop dumping garbage along the road. However, the problem still persists. The panchayat is now thinking of putting up signboards to discourage dumping.
