MAPUSA: Calangute Police arrested one 39-year-old resident of Assolna for illegally possessing narcotic substance suspected to be ganja worth Rs 50,700.
According to Calangute police, a team comprising PI Nolasco Raposo, PSI Navin Naik, constables Shasank Sakhalkar, Dinesh Morajkar and Rupesh Salgaonkar apprehended the accused near Calangute Tinto late Sunday night in illegal possession of 507 gms of drugs suspected to be ganja worth Rs 50,700.
The accused has been booked under the NDPS Act.
He was produced before the JMFC, Mapusa on Monday and was remanded to to 14 days judicial custody.
Police are conducting further investigations.
