51 schools, including 4 special schools, secure 100% result; 376 students pass with help of sports marks

PORVORIM: There has been a very marginal drop in the SSC examination pass percentage from 91.57 per cent in 2017 to 91.27 percent in 2018. The pass percentage of girls was recorded at 90.49 whereas that of boys was 88.69 percent.
In the results declared by Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) on Friday, 17,886 students of the 19,596 who appeared for the examination passed.
Addressing the media, GBSHSE chairman Ramkrishna Samant said, “The pass percentage this year is 91.27 percent as compared to 91.57 per cent in 2017. This year 78 schools, 51 aided and 21 government schools, secured 100 per cent results.”
He added, “Similarly, the number of candidates availing sports marks was 8,451 of which 376 passed the exam with the help of these marks. The centre with the highest enrolment was Panjim with 1,860 students and the pass percentage was 89.13, whereas interestingly the lowest enrolment was at Mashem with 179 students but it has the highest pass percentage of 96.65.”

“NSQF, which was introduced in the last three years has also contributed partly to the overall pass percentage this year. This year 297 students out of 2,036 students have passed who offered this additional seven skill based subjects only in government schools who otherwise would have failed because when they offer the seventh subject the board has given them a concession wherein they have to pass any six subjects,” he added.
The board has also said that last day for revaluation of answer books is June 1 while for verification of marks in absentia the final day is June 22 and for photocopy of answer books the last day is June 5.
