MARGAO: The Nuvem Gram Sabha (GS) unanimously passed a resolution to oppose the diversion of Mhadei water in Karnataka and withdraw the DPR approved by the Central Water Commission.
Earlier, at the gram sabha presided by Sarpanch Freda D’Sa, the budget for the financial Year 2023-24 for amount of Rs 5,99,80,000 was approved by the members. The Annual Development Plan (ADP), for which 50 resolutions were placed but could not be discussed, will be taken up at a special gram sabha after 15 days. The notice for the meeting will be posted on the panchayat website.
The issue of erratic drinking water supply faced by locals on a daily basis was also raised at the gram sabha and locals questioned why the PWD was giving water connections to new houses if the water available is not sufficient for the existing consumers. Another resolution passed to construct drainage at Murda-Pequeno. Members also opposed a cell tower in the village.
