PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Saturday appealed to the Goa Governor to dismiss the BJP-led coalition government and urged her to explore the possibility of installing an alternative government led by Congress.
Congress also criticised the BJP for the running the government without a head and demanded a new Chief Minister.
“Today it has been 100 days that Goa does not have a Chief Minister and we have come out with this programme called ‘Century without CM’. Nowhere in the entire country or anywhere else in the world there is a State run without a head, and that to for 100 days, and also without any cabinet meeting,” GPCC President Girish Chodankar said, during the ‘Century of Absence of Goa CM’ programme at Mahatma Gandhi statue in Old Goa.
He added, “We have therefore come to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi to take his blessings and also pray that a new Chief Minister should come and occupy the seat. Without the Chief Minister it is the first incident in the history of the country.”
Congress also said it will take the agitation, demanding the filling of chief ministerial post, across the State. Stating that Parrikar’s absence from the State administration has taken a toll on some crucial issues haunting the State, GPCC said the government needs to act immediately.
“In absence of the chief minister during last three months, the administration has collapsed. There are no cabinet meetings happening, no governance in place and the people are frustrated over the affairs of the government,” the Congress leaders said.
