PANJIM: The Cyber Crime police arrested one Mubarik Deen Mohd, from the cyber criminal stronghold of Mewat, Haryana, for tampering with the ATM network of RBL Bank and wrongfully withdrawing Rs 9.2 lakh.

Police say that the accused may be involved in more cases. The modus operandi took place in the night time at four to five RBL Bank ATMs located at isolated places in the State. The crime was reported to the police by the manager of the bank.

The police made two attempts to nab the accused after studying his pattern of movement for over a month. Pertinently, it requires 6-8 vehicles with armed policemen to catch any accused from the said village (Mewat). Through effective intelligence gathering, the accused was caught smoothly and successfully.

The accused was later produce before the JMFC Court Panjim and remanded to seven days police custody. Further investigation is in progress.

The police have ordered for freezing of the bank account used by the accused.
