PANJIM: The Old Goa police are on a look out for four men who decamped with an automated teller machine (ATM) of a private bank from its kiosk at Karmali in the wee hours of Thursday.
The machine contained Rs 20 lakh (approx) as per a complaint lodged at the Old Goa police station. A First Information Report under Section 380 of the Indian Penal Code is registered.
Sources said four masked persons entered the kiosk and damaged the CCTV cameras before decamping with the machine at around 2.30 am. “The machine contained Rs 20 lakh (approx). We are looking for clues to clamp down on the culprits. As of now, the only proof gathered is the CCTV footage showing them entering the kiosk and damaging the cameras,” a source in the police department told Herald.
This is the second incident in three months with the last crime reported at Colvale where four persons had lifted the ATM containing Rs 10 lakh. The broken machine was later found in a hilly area about 2.5 km away from the crime scene. The police had made two arrests soon thereafter.
