ATS, CID, IB visit house struck by long-range bullet

Vasco: Officials of the Goa Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS), CID Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau (IB) visited the house in Khariwado that had been struck by a long-range bullet on Tuesday.

They wanted to rule out the terror angle and find the source of the bullet, which had pierced through the roof, cracked the false ceiling and damaged a wall.
According to information, the investigating agencies visited the house in the morning and tried to find out from what angle the bullet was fired.
Although Vasco police have been investigating the case, Goa ATS stated that they would start a parallel investigation as the incident involved arms. Sources in the CID Special Branch informed that the ATS and other officials were trying to ascertain what kind of firearm was used to fire the bullet and that they were waiting for a report from a ballistic expert before trying to find the source of the bullet.
When contacted to know the progress of the investigations by Vasco police, Vasco DySP Suchita Desai informed that they had contacted Central Industrial Security Force officials at the MPT as well as officials of the Indian Navy in Goa to inquire whether they had any information about the incident.
“We are just verifying the facts. It is presumed that the bullet was fired from a long-range gun. We are in the process of checking with the Navy as well as CISF whether there has been any such misfiring incident from their side,” said Desai.
Meanwhile, Khariwado residents have demanded a thorough probe in the incident as the bullet, besides damaging the house, could have even killed someone.
