Attack on reporters condemned

BICHOLIM, MARCH 9
Condemning the attack on reporters during the annual Kalsotsav at Mahamaya Devasthan, Mayem, on Wednesday, the Bicholim Patrakar Sangh has denounced the act of the villagers.
The Bicholim Patrakar Sangh had convened a meeting following the attack on reporters.
Uday Parab of Prudent, Vishant Vaze (journalist), Sandeep Desai (photographer Gomantak) and Sudesh Mayekar, who were covering the event at Mahamaya Devasthan were attacked by the people.
Uday Parab expressed great concern over the issue and said that it is an attack over freedom of the expression.
Sangh President Durgadas Garde said that the attackers would be called to the police station and would be strictly dealt.
“We will not allow such things to happen and we will urge the police to look into the matter. It was a shameful act of the villagers and the journalists who went to cover the event were made scapegoat when the real controversy was between two groups,” said Garde.
Vishant Vaze also condemned the attack and termed it as an attack on the fourth pillar of democracy. Reporters including Rajesh Chodankar, Raviraj Chari, Ramesh Sawaikar and others were present for the meeting
