MARGAO: The Congress on Monday attacked the Aam Aadmi Party for protesting against Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat’s statement of creating a combined force to fight the BJP in Goa.
The Congress says that it is a well-known fact that the AAP is a B team of the communal and divisive BJP which acts to divide the votes to give electoral advantage to the BJP during the elections.
“It is time and again proved that the AAP has created a political atmosphere against the secular Congress Party and its leaders to create confusions in the minds of the public with a sole intention of giving political advantage to the BJP,” claimed South Goa District Congress President Joseph Dias.
“We anticipate that many such groups and political parties will be put to birth by the BJP for their political advantage in the coming few months. The BJP is now boosting parties like AAP to gain momentum to ensure that confusions are created in the minds of the people which will ultimately help the BJP to retain power in Goa. The digital campaign launched by AAP on social media encouraging more people to join the BJP is a clear example of AAP acting as marketing agent of BJP,” said North Goa District Congress President Vijay Bhike.
“The people of Goa should not fall prey for these malicious acts and dirty tricks and should stand firmly behind the Congress Party which is confident to win the elections with absolute majority,” said Bhike.
“The AAP has no moral right to talk about electoral alliances. The leaders of the AAP need to introspect themselves about the poor performance of their own party in the last few elections in the State. They could not win a single seat in any of the elections in Goa till date but helped the BJP to win seats by dividing the Secular votes,” charged Dias.
“The people of Goa have openly expressed their feelings that Kamat is the only leader who can take everyone together and has proved it by heading a coalition government and completing a full term of five years in office. His people-friendly policies and schemes are still remembered by the common man in Goa,” said Bhike.
Dias expressed surprise over the act of the so called AAP leaders to raise questions on an interview of Kamat, rather than attacking and questioning the BJP on the core issues such as COVID pandemic, economic slowdown and sufferings of the common man.
“The people’s sentiment in Goa is to defeat the communal, insensitive BJP government in the next Assembly Elections of 2022.”
The press conference was also attended by South Goa District Congress Vice Presidents Deepak Kharangate and Yemane D’Souza.
