Aug 11 was second wettest day of season

PANJIM: Goa recorded its second wettest day on August 11 with 5.09 inches of rainfall being received for the day. The total seasonal rainfall continues to be 27 per cent over the normal. 

As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa Observatory data, August 11 turned out to be second wettest after it received 5.09 inches (129.5 mm) of rainfall. June 17 has been the wettest day for the season so far with 5.6 inches (137.2mm) of rain.

Since June 1 till date, the State has recorded 115.80 inches (2941.4mm) of rain as against the normal average of 90.82 inches (2306.9mm). 

So far the month of August has recorded 22 inches of rain, while month of June recorded 42 inches of rain, July crossed 50 inches. 

The South-West monsoon touched the 100 inch mark of rain within just 66 days of the season, the second fastest since 2013. 

Though, the 2020 season began from June 1, the onset of monsoon over Goa, was slightly delayed till June 11.
