PANJIM: Australia Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Richard Marles, MP visited the Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Vasco on Tuesday.
Goa Shipyard Limited chairman and managing director TN Sudhakar received the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia at the Shipyard and thereafter the VIP was briefed on the Autonomous Fast Interceptor Boat project.
Operation of the Autonomous Craft, which is jointly developed by the GSL and Bharat Electronics for the Indian Navy, was demonstrated to the dignitary. During the visit, the dignitary was also apprised of the various shipbuilding, ship repair activities and the technical expertise available at the GSL.
During the event the VIP was also introduced to the selected defence startups, who displayed their products which were developed under the IDEX scheme of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Richard Marles was on a two-day visit to Goa starting Monday. He was later seen off by protocol Minister Mauvin Godinho at the INS Hansa,Dabolim on Tuesday.
During his four-day visit to India, Marles, will hold his first bilateral meeting with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday, to strengthen defence and security cooperation between the two countries.
