Australian rescued from Vagator well

MAPUSA: The Mapusa Fire Station team rescued a 29-year-old Australian national, who had fallen inside a well at Vagator early morning on Tuesday.

The Mapusa Fire Station In-charge Ashok Parab told O Heraldo that a rescue call was received at 3.56 am stating that a person had fallen into the well at Dom Rock near Julie Jolly hotel at Vagator.

“Immediately a team of firefighters rushed for the spot. They found that the well was 45 meter deep. Though it was dark, the team members successfully rescued Fleming Daniel Luke, the Australian national. He was rescued without any injury. Later, Luke was shifted to Primary Health Centre, Anjuna, for a check-up,” he said.

The fire fighters team included Dnyaneshwar Sawant, Sub-Officer, Nitin Chodankar, driver operator, Vassudev Tate, Pravin Naik Gaonkar and Lavender Salgaonkar (all firefighters) and Akash Kalangutkar, recruit firefighter.
